Pondicherry

The bestest trip I had ever had recently. Pondicherry trip was fun magnified. This is one trip which has changed the jinx that went with me…The jinx was that I would never have a trip without at least one disaster…or may be in Pondicherry I over looked disasters if any.

We boarded the bus from Majestic Bus Stop, the Shantala Silk house entrance. If you get into the bus stop from the main entrance you will have to walk round and round which will easily be 1KM.

The bus departs at 2pm and we (Hubby and I) we seated in the bus…but this creature called Maggie (my best friend) was no where in the scene. (Puhleeeeeeez don’t ask me why “she” was with “us”. I have had some 300 people ask me the same question!!! Maggie is a good friend of Krishna-my husband and me and we thought it will be a great trip together cos “we” were not in a mood for 2nd honeymoon.)

I kept smsing and calling her and she kept saying “I will be there in 2 mins” Finally she appeared at 2.10 pm, just when the bus driver was revving up the accelerator and going onto first gear!

Maggie sat on the other side of the aisle in the same row, she had an old uncle sitting next to her. (Psst. This uncle’s wife and daughter were sitting in the seat just in front of Maggie. We requested them to let Maggie sit with their daughter so that uncle and aunty can sit together and we can be rest assured that Maggie would not get touched “accidentally” But guess what???? Both Uncle and Aunty say No!!!! They wouldn’t let their daughter sit next to Maggie!)

But nice uncle, he sat quietly and slept throughout the journey.

The bus driver stopped for tea at around 4.30pm, I don’t know where…but the toilets in this place were sad, more than blaming the toilet, the people who used it were sick…I mean not health wise but hygiene wise. I won’t go on to explain that.

The ride was pretty comfortable, we reached Pondicherry at 9.30pm. We got off at the main bus stop and looked around for Aditya Inn Guest House. That’s the place we had booked prior to leaving Bangalore. It was situated some 10 steps away from the main bus stop. We went and checked in….prior to getting into the room there was this whole drama of proving that my husband and me were really man and wife…and that Maggie was my cousin. We gave a copy of our marriage certificate at the reception as well.

The night was just eat and sleep. We ate at a fake Chettinad hotel, which served some kind of biryani and some other kind of chicken 65. We retired for the day, hoping to see the Pondicherry of my dreams soon.
